Our river cruise in Photos.
There were too many things to take photos of to include here, but one of the highlights of the cruise was going under a bridge originally built by Gustav Eiffel, or Eiffel Tower fame. It was a railroad bridge, and it is partly under wraps now because they are working on restoring it to it's former glory.
There was a huge convent on the banks of the river, just behind the Port warehouses, that had a massive round chapel. When the king ordered out of Portugal all religious orders, the convent was abandoned, but the chapel remained a church. Now the Portuguese Army is using the convent as barracks.
There are many buildings, new and old, large and small on the banks of the river. Here are a few, chosen at random.
